The School to Prison Pipeline: Disparities, Collateral Consequences, Alternatives & Solutions
We will discuss an overview of the school to prison pipeline, including what conditions are creating it and the disparities involved, collateral consequences, and promising alternatives and solutions.
Presenters: Sarah Davis & Jason Sole
Sarah is the Youth Advocate Attorney and has been with LRC since December 2012. Prior to joining LRC, she was a public defender in Boston, MA for 5 years. Her work at LRC focuses on representing juveniles charged in court, advocating for juvenile justice policy changes, advocating for the increased use of restorative practices, and facilitating restorative family group conferences in the Minneapolis Public Schools.
Jason Sole is a professor at Metro State University, and the author of the recently-released memoir, “From Prison to PhD.” He is a member of the NAMI board, and MN Second Chance Coalition. He also runs a private consulting firm, through which he provides training and seminars to many criminal justice agencies.
