Training Description: The presentation will include information on current drug trends, emerging drugs in the community and effects on the body, and naloxone and the battle against the opiate epidemic. The importance of drug court to the recovering person and how it coexists with and supports treatment will also be discussed. Finally, the presentation will cover a recent controversial article on the role of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous in regards to abstinence based recovery versus harm reduction.
Nicole Frass, MA, LADC, is the Senior Counselor for the RS Eden Women’s Chemical Health Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2008. She received her Master of Arts in Addiction Counseling from Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies and began her career at RS Eden in 2010. She has experience working with individuals struggling with chemical use issues in conjunction with facing serious consequences from use including probation/parole, and child protection. She currently provides direct client care and supervises and supports the women’s program clinical team.
James Tabatt graduated in 2008 from Saint Cloud State University with a double major in Chemical Dependency Counseling and Community Psychology. He has experience working in a rural outpatient treatment program (Haven Road Recovery Center), a residential and outpatient adolescent treatment program (Maple Lake Recovery Center), the Minnesota Department of Corrections (Lino Lakes TRIAD Program). He has been at RS Eden almost 4 years as a men’s program counselor and is currently the Senior Counselor for Eden House’s Men’s program and serves as the liaison for the Men’s Program in Hennepin County Drug Court.
Jen Blesi has a Bachelor’s of Science from Minnesota State University, Mankato in Alcohol and Drug Studies. She graduated July 27, 2012 from MNSU, Mankato. Jen completed two internships for her LADC at Unity Hospital and Fairview Hospital. She began her work as an LADC in November 2012 at RS Eden. In January 2014 she became the Hennepin County Drug Court Coordinator for RS Eden Women’s Substance Abuse Program. This has been a great opportunity for her to learn more about the criminal justice system and about working with other professionals in the criminal justice field who have the same vision and passion for their clients as she does. She also serves on the Hennepin County Steering Committee.
