This presentation will offer an understanding of sexual offending behavior and treatment interventions for those who sexually abuse. It will include discussion of current sexual offender treatment philosophies and practices, offer perspectives on treatment as prevention, and outline Project Pathfinder’s treatment approach for working with at risk individuals. Discussion of case examples will be included to highlight concepts. This training will address questions including:
Project Pathfinder, Inc. has developed this training to assist those working in community agencies to build a greater understanding of those who engage in sexual harm and the process of sexual offender specific treatment.
Participants will be able to identify three treatment approaches commonly utilized in sexual offender treatment.
Participants will be able to identify three underlying issues or diagnosable co-morbid conditions that commonly present in individuals who have engaged in sexually abusive behaviors.
Participants will have a greater understanding of treatment and how it serves as part of a continuum of prevention.

Deborah McDaniel-Dunn, MA, LPCC, is a Senior Clinical Supervisor at Project Pathfinder, Inc. She has been with the agency for over fourteen years. Her areas of interest in a therapeutic setting include healthy sexuality, sex therapy, relationships issues, and self esteem. Deborah also has her own private practice where she focuses specifically on working with adolescents and adults with any of the areas noted above.
Rebekah Lichty, MS, LPCC, is a Psychotherapist at Project Pathfinder, Inc. She has been with the agency for the last five years. Her areas of interest include working with high-risk populations including, but not limited to, men and women with extensive criminal backgrounds, history of trauma or abuse, and individuals with lower than average functioning capabilities.
